Ty has been with Bluestone for more than 10 years, making him one of our most experienced account managers. This means Ty is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to finance, but also a well-established and popular member of the team known for his friendly, fun, trustworthy, and outgoing personality.
Ty was born and raised in Leicester, where he spent a lot of his childhood playing computer games (that Ty says would be considered “retro” nowadays), watching martial arts films featuring Bruce Lee, and listening to hip hop and soul funk music with his friends.
However, while he has always enjoyed socialising, Ty is no stranger to hard work.
“I’m a firm believer that you get back what you put in, and if you want to play hard you need to work hard. I was brought up working on a fruit and veg stall in Leicester. That’s where I learnt how to talk to people how important it was to be a grafter; working on the market gave me confidence and helped to bring my personality out.”
Growing up, Ty had a talent for numbers, but while he briefly considered pursuing careers in architecture and accounting, his natural rapport with people has led him to a career in customer care.
“I have always worked in face to face customer care whether in retail or sales and my approach has always been straightforward without the fluff. I like to get on with people, get to know them, and help them when I can. I want to put people at ease so they feelable to be candid and relaxed with me. I might be doing it in a suit now rather than scruffs, but I’m still true to myself.”
Ty was first introduced to Bluestone Leasing by his wife who was the company’s financial controller. After meeting with the management team on several occasions, Ty joined the company himself.
“I got on well with the team and the company culture really appealed to me. For me and for Bluestone, it’s not about interest rates, it’s about maintaining long term relationships.”
Outside of work, Ty likes to drive fast cars, grows his own chillies, enjoys music festivals in the sun with his family and friends, and one of his favourite places in the world is Las Vegas. He hopes to one day visit Australia and New Zealand, and would love to drive a “big beast of a car” across the Florida Keys bridge.
If Ty had the power to change the world, everybody would get along, and he would get rid of bad manners, hatred, lying, and discrimination. This ethical, committed and straightforward approach extends throughout his life, making him an ideal ally for growing businesses.
“The best part of my job is watching businesses grow, like visiting a warehouse that now has a new mezzanine floor with 20 new employees working on it, and knowing I secured the funding that made it happen. I have customers that I have worked with for more than a decade who keep my number and come back to me for finance time and time again.”
